Hey all,

I just wanted to let you know that the passwords on newgrounds.com are not encrypted / hashed and are simply stored in plain text in the database. This is a major security issue, any web developer that attended security 101 will tell you that.

This means that if you used your newgrounds password on other sites, anyone with admin access to newgrounds could log in into those accounts. Let's say some guy you don't like does an internship over there and he wants to get your password? He'll most likely be able to get it. Same thing for any hacker that manage to get into Newgrounds' servers - no server is safe from a clever exploit. Once the person has your email+password combo, he could log into your bank account, email, amazon, paypal... anything using the same credentials really.

You can easily check this issue for yourself, simply use the "forgot password" feature and be amazed when you receive your email sent in plain text.

To the NG staff: please fix this issue as soon as possible
To the users: change your password to one you will only use on newgrounds

Every f*cking time I load a new animation there's this girl talking about detergent. Every time I have to try to shut down the volume and it gets more and more annoying. What's up with that? Don't you think that a n ad with sound is a bit distracting, especially when it loads while watching a flash movie?

So just a follow-up, Tom is currently out of town but occasionally advertisers try and sneak in sound-enabled ads even though its in the terms that ng doesnt allow them. This is not usually under ng control. Its the ad company that sells inventory and then filters it into the site, so often its not obvious that has happend until you the users bring up the red flag on it.

So hang in there, itll be pulled off of circulation soon enough. Tom was out of town over the weekend.

I started a new project called "deux fois rien".

The idea is that we are two people. We both take the same original picture and we have 20 minutes to do some photoshop work on it. We don't talk to each other during the process and then we post the results on the blog.

You will be able to see the original picture and both interpretations. You can also send us your pictures by email and we'll photoshop them and post them on the blog, linking back to your website.

There is no crazy photoshoping going on, we just give a different look and feel to the picture.

Hey, a small post to talk to you about "And now you're even older", a video I made on a music by They Might Be Giants.

It's a black & white movie, quite Noir, about work...
In this one I used an effect to make the whole movie look "old" (like I did before in submissions like this one). I also worked a lot with photoshop to get the result I wanted.

I think the result is pretty much what I wanted to do, so go watch it and tell me what you think about it !
